From John O’Donohue’s Anam Cara –
The Soul is shy and responds to gentleness, soft light like a candle, not harsh glare. Do not stalk or grasp but open to receive and allow Soul to flow to you. Soul is the dark, feminine energy of receptivity rather than the yang, outgoing, striving energy of the bright sun.
But as Kahlil Gibran says “Do not judge the power of the ocean by the frailty of its foam.”
True power is not about forcing your will, rather it is collaboration, cooperation, community. When we invoke the Anam Cara or soul friend, we open to our own beloved which is our eternal and ever-present partner and ally, our Inner Beloved.
“On the altar of my beating heart, I fan with love the flame of the eternal fire and open to all the worlds.” David Spangler
